Meet Your Instructor Leah

I am a lifelong educator. Originally from Florida, I grew up in and around the water and know first hand about the importance of water safety. At 9 years old I rescued my toddler neighbor from her pool. The sliding glass door was open, her babysitter went to answer the phone, and she walked right into the pool (this was before pool fence laws). That event had a profound impact on me.

I have been a youth development professional in almost every facet. From being a preschool teacher, to receiving both my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Elementary Education from University of Florida (Go Gators!), teaching Kinder, 4th, and 7th grade, and finally being the Education Director at The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz County, teaching is in my blood. I am deeply passionate about raising critical thinking, problem-solving children.

It wasn’t until 2020 that I decided to follow my dream of becoming an ISR Instructor. Moving to the central valley shined a light on the lack of one-on-one swim programs in our area and the huge discrepancy in swim lesson access from the coast, inland. Having been a lifelong swimmer and passionate about water safety I pursued my dreams of owning my own small business. I finally had the time and opportunity to attend the rigorous 8 week ISR in-water training. So I flew to Florida and got trained by a legendary instructor and the rest is history. The competence, confidence, and skills acquired during lessons carries on to other aspects of life and I am so excited to bring this program to communities all over Central California.
